North West Annual Future of Energy Conference highlights opportunities for investment, growth & innovation
This week our CEO & Secretariat Bob Barbour represented Smart Grid Ireland at the North West Annual Future of Energy Conference in Derry.
The aim of the event was to share insights on how best to address the challenges of rising energy costs and create opportunities for investment, growth, innovation and job creation, while supporting the North West region’s energy strategy goals.
Bob took part in a panel discussion around carbon neutrality, touching on the north-west’s onshore and offshore wind resources, grid modernisation, emerging sectors such as green hydrogen and the importance of the circular economy.
Speaking about the event, Bob said: “The North West region annual energy conference demonstrated the benefits of a place-based energy event bringing representatives from energy assets, demand and infrastructure at a local level creating new opportunities for investors, consumers, networks and the wider energy system.”
